Worn slipcover to the rescue! I hunted down my old holey couch slipcover and found that there was enough new looking fabric to it after I cut around the holes that I was able to make cafe curtains with it for the two windows in the living room, where we needed the privacy the most. The cats aren't allowed in the bedrooms any longer so we can use the blinds in those rooms. So, an old couch slipcover, an unused tension rod (only had one so I had to buy another)and some ribbon out of my stock that someone had given me from long ago, and we now have privacy! We can still use the blinds on the top half of the window and with the curtains on the bottom half it works rather nicely. An added plus, we can close things up in stages so if it is still light out but dark enough for people to see in with the lights on we can close the curtains and leave the blinds twisted open and still let in some light but not be in view. Once it gets completely dark we can then close the blinds as well. I was also able to find some flower garlands that I had left over in storage from our house to dress up the top half of the window a bit. It might not be Martha Stewart-like but it adds a bit of homeyness to our temporary place.

Finally put up some curtains
Living in a bottom floor apartment doesn't always offer the best privacy and with cats in the family mini-blinds can get pretty mangled very quickly! At one time, out of five sets of blinds, we had kitty 'peep holes' in all but two of them. So, needless to say, when the maintenance crew very generously replaced them all, we had to figure out another solution.

A Few Changes
I am making a few changes with my Scentsy business. For right now my Scentsy website is down so if you are interested in purchasing anything, leave me a comment and, as always, if you would like to check out any scents that we have or see more of our product, I will be happy to help you out in hosting a party. I am sorry for the inconvenience. I will soon be setting up a page for Scentsy right here on my blog so that you will be able to see all the latest news and products. We also have a new line of products at Scentsy, body washes, creams and lotions and even scents for your clothes! Be back soon to give more detail!

First of all I want to shout a huge Happy Birthday to my dear Mother! Though we are half a country apart in physical distance you are as close to my heart as a person can get! May the Lord bless you this day and throughout the year and share with you all that He has for you. I love you!
I am also excited! I have been organizing and purging my things/junk in our home, filing and either donating or throwing away anything that isn't necessary to have. It's a slow process, partly because of the everyday chores that must be done but also because it is hard to get rid of somethings and to know where to put what needs to be kept. There are oodles of places and ideas online so I have been 'researching' these. It has been fun but I suppose I have probably spent more time than necessary on that part. Next project - learning to balance my time! :-)
This weekend my family and I spent the two days, part of each of them at any rate, emptying out one of our three storage units. It is finished now, empty! Yahoo! It is a burden off of our shoulders. It feels so good to get organized.
One think I have noticed, though, is that I seem to get organized and then something happens to throw me off course again. So I have been praying, not so much that these 'wrenches' won't come because, I suppose, that is what life is, but more than that, that the Lord will help me to overcome through these times and I will keep diligent in my organizing.
I guess I had better say 'See you later' and get back to organizing. I will try to keep you updated as to my progress, maybe even with some pictures. You just never know! ;-)

Fun Projects
I made this bag for my niece to carry her American Girl doll in when they went visiting. It has a pocket in the front with her name on it and one in the back with her dolls name as well as working buttons on each top corner so there is plenty of room for all those fun girly things she wont want to leave home without!!
What a fun project it was and to hear how much she liked it was the best part of all!
What a great day to start off the new year! We started out praising the Lord with the saints and hearing God's word, what exciting stuff! Then after a lunch of delicious (if I do say so myself) Cheddar Chicken Spaghetti we went for a walk along Lake Massabesic and back home to relax together. All ready now to start off the first week with our new schedule!

Happy New Year 2012!!
Happy New Year everyone! I am determined to be organized and disciplined this year! By God's grace!
So, since I want to start the new year out right I need to go to bed so I can get up in the morning for our final installment of the church conference we are listening to(since we can't be there in person in IN - we are in NH)on paltalk. Bread of Life Assembly is the group if anyone is interested in joining us for the new year. I am always edified by what I hear and encouraged to go deeper in my walk with the Lord.
One thing the pastor said tonight, (and then I will go to bed)is that we can use full court press on the devil! I never thought of it in those terms before but it's a very good analogy. Instead of standing on the other side of the court waiting for the devil and his cohorts to get half way toward us before acting we can stand right at the boundary or door of our heart/mind and block him so he can't even get in bounds!!!!
Anyway, I am excited about this year, the Lord has been teaching me things and I want to start a fresh year/mindset putting all these things into practice.
As part of my organizing I found this site
(Free New Years Success Pack for Moms) and wanted to share it with you. She has a New Years Success Pack for Moms and so much more if you need a bit of help in organizing your home and saving time and/or money on food and want to make sure your family is eating wholesome nutritious meals.
May the Lord bless your first night's sleep for 2012!!

......A year and a half later.
I am so glad that I included in my first blog (almost two years ago now, yikes!) that I trust in Proverbs 16:9 that says "A man's heart devises his way: but the Lord directs his steps." I guess 22 months ago wasn't the Lord's timing for me to start my blogging adventure. Who knows how far this will go and how frequent my sharing will become but lately I have had the desire to share some thoughts. Short, simple thoughts, but thoughts none the less. I have posted a couple of things on facebook but somehow, since I don't post there very often what I wanted to say seemed to be too, as my daughter would say, 'random'. Even for facebook. That actually reminded me that I had started this blog so maybe I would come here to share. It all seems so exciting when I am working around our home thinking about it but as I sit here trying to start I get a bit overwhelmed looking at the behind the scenes of blogging. So I am going to start out very simply and go from here. I don't even know who, if any one, really sees this. Actually, I hope not too many do until I get the hang of it but....here goes!
The first thing I would like to do is praise the Lord for His love for my family and me. He has been so good to us. One of the situations I mentioned earlier about wanting to share a thought happened a couple of nights ago. I had climbed into my nice warm bed, sandwiched between the pile of blankets and a mattress set just right for me (do I sound like goldilocks yet?) I had Twila Paris singing her Bedtime Prayers in the cd player next to me - so relaxing. My next thought was how blessed and priviledged my family is. Even though we have been going through hard times and there are many people that have more than we do, there are so many more people that have not even one tenth of what we have!!! We have a warm place to sleep with a pile of blankets, fresh, healthy food to eat and the best guide to life a family can have - Jesus Christ! My prayer is that I remember that thought at other times when, perhaps, the moment is not quite so cozy and maybe things aren't going so well. I want to be a (wo)man, stable in all my ways, trusting in the Lord and His perfect plan all of my days. Until tomorrow(I hope) or the next time I come by....May the Lord bless you and keep you and cause His face to shine upon you!

Welcome to my grand opening!
Hello Friends!
Thank you for visiting my new space. This blogging thing is all new to me so, please, bear with me.
My desire is to have one place as a hub, if you will, that I can share with my friend's, family and future friends what I have to offer. I am going to be replacing my website "Candie's Cottage Crafts" with this blog and also will be introducing my new business~I have become an Independent Consultant for Scentsy Wickless Candles! So far, it has been very exciting and I wanted a place to share with you all about how it's going! I am giving this project and it's future over to the direction of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Please pray for me that I will listen and take heed to His guidance for I know that His wisdom is perfect and He loves me and wants what is best for me and my family. Proverbs 16:9 says that "A man's heart devises his way: but the Lord directs his steps." This is an encouragement to me, knowing that even when I plan something, if it is not the best for me at that time the Lord will make sure things get rearranged so that I go the way He knows is best. So I move forward in confidence, knowing that the Lord is in charge of this new adventure!
